Songs That Saved Your Life

don't forget the songs
that made you cry
and the songs that saved your life
yes, you're older now
and you're a clever swine
but they were the only ones who ever stood by you

I'm April. I like music.
I post a song a day whenever I can & my story that goes with it.

Camera Obscura - “Lloyd, I’m Ready to Be Heartbroken” (5.99MB mp3 file)

I was really thrilled when I read about this song, because I feel like more people should be paying their respects to Lloyd Cole. (I’m also pleased that a girl is singing this, because I feel like being into Lloyd Cole/the Commotions is seen as a Dude Thing, which bums me out — however, having said that, I did put the actual “Are You Ready to Be Heartbroken?” on a mixtape for a boyfriend once and he was not a big fan, heh.) He’s a genius lyricist, and I think it’s a shame that I’ve never been able to talk about how Rattlesnakes is one of my favorite albums ever with anyone who wasn’t a 40-plus-year-old man who misses his college radio glory days, heh. I’m hoping this song helped change that, and maybe turned some twee indie folks on to Mr. Cole’s tunes.
