Songs That Saved Your Life

don't forget the songs
that made you cry
and the songs that saved your life
yes, you're older now
and you're a clever swine
but they were the only ones who ever stood by you

I'm April. I like music.
I post a song a day whenever I can & my story that goes with it.

Gwen Stefani - “Hollaback Girl” (4.58MB mp3 file)

I came home from class one night (I went to college later in life), and David asked, “Have you heard that new Gwen Stefani song? The one where she’s basically doing a cheer? My art teacher played that damn thing 700 times tonight in class.” (He started college late, too.) He tried to explain it to me — “She seriously just spells out B-A-N-A-N-A-S to a beat!” — but I kind of didn’t believe him; it just sounded so ridiculous.

A few nights later, we saw the video on MTV, and I couldn’t believe how on point his description was, heh. I hated this song the first few times I heard it. HATED. However, a couple years passed and my attitude changed — I downloaded it and gave it a closer listen and was like, “You know what? I’m into this. Just basically a stomping beat and a marching band? Pretty clever. And catchy as hell.” I mean, the Neptunes know what they’re doing.
