I was at a karaoke party with a bunch of people I had just met — everyone was having a great time, laughing and drinking, and I thought, “I’m going to tear it up with this JAM!” I love Elton John, my deep-ass voice feels comfortable singing his stuff, and even though this has “sad” in the title I still thought it was kind of a PARTY TUNE. Hoo boy, was I wrong. I kind of killed the party a bit with this, and toward the end even heard my then-boyfriend’s brother say, “I think our dad used to make us listen to this song on family road trips.” Whoops.
