The Divine Comedy - “Generation Sex” (3.20MB mp3 file)
I went with Chip to Palm Springs, California, a few weeks ago, because he was booked on a fancy stand-up show there and got a fancy hotel room to go with it. I had never been, and I very much enjoyed our weekend. Palm Springs is weird in so many great ways — the architecture is still very “people in the 1960s’ idea of what the future will be” and there are, like, Kentucky Fried Chicken places that look like Frank Sinatra would dine there. It’s awesome. But the place is also kind of hook-up paradise? Apparently it’s known for being a resort town for swingers and all sorts of sexy folks looking to get their freak on.
I was asking him about it and our conversation led to the two of us singing this song a cappella while dancing through an empty parking lot behind the casino next to our hotel.
